Continuing students

Welcome back!

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to campus very soon.

Enrolment for continuing students

As a continuing student you must complete enrolment every academic year before recommencing your studies.

If you are continuing your studies in September 2025, you will receive your enrolment email in mid-late August to invite you to complete enrolment. You can start to complete your enrolment as soon as you receive your enrolment email. The email will be sent to all students who are progressing onto the next year of their studies and will be sent to your Royal Holloway email address.

You need to complete the two steps below to be fully enrolled and continue with your degree course in the 2025/26 academic year which begins on Monday 22 September. A delay in completing your enrolment could impact your Student Loans payments if you are in receipt of funding from Student Finance. Please make sure you complete enrolment even if you are:

  • On a Year in Industry or Year in Business in 2025/26.

  • Retaking assessments in 2025/26, for example repeating or re-sitting a module.

  • On a Year Abroad in 2025/26.

You should complete enrolment as soon as possible before the start of the new academic year and by your School or Department's enrolment deadline below.

Enrol in two steps

Once you have received your enrolment email you will be able to complete the two steps below.

Returning as a postgraduate student

If you're starting a new course with us, for example if you finished an undergraduate course and are now starting a postgraduate course, please read and follow the enrolment information for new students.

Returning from an interruption

If you need permission to study in the UK and need to request a new CAS, you should apply at least six months before your planned return to the UK.

You can request this by completing the online CAS request form.

You’ll also need to contact your School Helpdesk to make sure you’re registered on the modules you will be taking when you return.

There is support available to you if you need any help settling back into your studies.

Returning for resits and repeats

If you are a continuing student and have been offered the option to retake assessments not in attendance or repeat in attendance for all, or part, of the new academic year, you still need to re-enrol at start of the 2025/26 academic year.

Before you can re-enrol please:

  1. Confirm your progression decision - follow the instructions offered in your progression outcome

  2. Contact your School to register your module choices - please contact your School Helpdesk as soon as possible to confirm the modules that you will be resitting or repeating, so that your record can be updated and you can be billed accordingly.

Once you have agreed the modules you would like to resit/repeat, your department will then register you for these and when your department have registered you for all the modules you need to resit/repeat, your record will update automatically overnight and you should be able to complete Online Sign-Up the following day.

For more information about resitting and repeating, please see our retaking assessments webpages.

Summer Vacation Assessment Period (SVAP) 2025

If you are resitting assessments in the Summer Vacation Assessment Period, please note that you will not be able to complete your enrolment for 2025/26 until you have:

  • Passed those assessments and as a result are able to progress to the next year of study. You will be able to enrol for the 2025/26 academic year shortly after the release of SVAP 2025 results; you will be invited by email to complete your enrolment.
  • Or, if you have not successfully passed, but have been given the option to retake, then please see the information below on resits and repeats or see our retaking assessments webpage.

Students who do not pass should contact their School to discuss the options available to them.

For further information about SVAP 2025, release of results and what to do if you don't successfully pass your assessments and aren't able to progress to the next year of your course, see our retaking assessments webpage.

Check your enrolment status

You can keep track of which enrolment steps you have completed and check your enrolment status by viewing your 'Start of Session Checklist' card on  Campus Connect. From your 'Home' screen, scroll down or search to find the 'Start of Session Checklist' card. This will show you when you have completed the Online Sign-up and Tuition Fee Payment steps.

The checklist will continue to update closer to the start of term. You can keep checking every week to see this update and see which steps of your enrolment you’ve completed.

Enrolment deadline, late arrival and failure to enrol

You can find important information about your enrolment deadline, late arrival and failure to enrol below.

You should aim to arrive and enrol as soon as possible at the start of term by following the enrolment steps above for continuing students.

Late arrival and failure to enrol

All current students must enrol at the start of each new academic year by completing the enrolment steps above.

You should aim to arrive as soon as possible at the start of term and you should complete the relevant steps of your enrolment before the start of term and at the very latest by the deadline set by your School; see the enrolment deadline table above.

What happens if I don't enrol on time?

You must contact us as soon as possible to let us know if you're experiencing any issues with completing enrolment so that we can offer you the appropriate advice or support. Please note that it is your responsibility to let us know if you are experiencing issues enrolling.

If you're unable to enrol by the deadline relevant to your course, without prior approval and in the absence of medical or other good reason, this will result in you being deregistered from your course and closure of your student record.

For students who are sponsored by Royal Holloway for your student visa, this will be curtailed (cancelled and withdrawn) in line with the UK Visa and Immigration rules.

You will also not be entitled to use any campus facilities, including the Computer Centre, the Library, Campus Account facilities, the Students' Union, or attend lectures and seminars. Your access to University systems may also be revoked.

If you have received an email reminding you to complete any outstanding steps of enrolment, you should complete those steps as soon as possible and by the date stated in the email to avoid your record being closed for non-enrolment.

If an outstanding step of your enrolment is arranging payment of your tuition fees and you have any queries about this, you should contact us as soon as possible. If you need to speak to the Student Fees team in-person, you should contact the Student Services Centre who may be able book an appointment with the Student Fees team if needed.

Please note that students will not be permitted to re-commence their studies and/or enrol after the deadline unless you have exceptionally been granted permission to enrol late by Student Administration or your School. You should first contact your School to discuss this if you won’t be arriving in time for the start of term, however it is unlikely that they will be able to permit a late enrolment.

If you have received an email explaining that your record has now been closed, but you wish to continue with your studies, you will need to contact us urgently for further advice. We’ll then let you know if you’re able to continue with your studies.

In exceptional circumstances, if your record has been closed but you are then allowed to continue studying with the us through our re-instatement process, please note, you will be liable to pay a £300 reinstatement fee. These exceptions will only be considered where Student Administration has been informed in advance, in writing of any circumstances that prevent enrolment by the specified time. Student Administration and your School will review your circumstances to ascertain whether late enrolment is viable.

If you are unable to join the University by the relevant deadline you may need to consider interrupting your studies if you’re a current student to the following academic year.

For students who are due to live in Halls of Residence, you should also inform Student Accommodation of your delay.

Your late arrival and enrolment will not change your liability for tuition or accommodation fees.

If you will be arriving before your School’s latest deadline you should continue with your enrolment steps.
