Writing Tutorials and Drop ins

Get personalised advice that addresses your needs through our bookable 1:1 Writing, Statistics and Maths and Numercay Tutorials.

All tutorials must be booked through our 1:1 tutorial Moodle page.

Academic reading, writing or speaking tutorials

For writing tutorials students need to select their school, choose a slot and follow the instructions on the booking form provided. For MSN or statistics tutorials, students need to click the 'book here' icon under the relevant title. New slots for tutorials are released roughly every two weeks, so please come back and check the Moodle page later on if none are suitable.

Writing tutorials for your dissertations and projects

In the 30-minute tutorial, a CeDAS Teaching Fellow will discuss your assingmnet at any stage, and identify keys ways to help you improve your assingment and your academic skills. You can book tutorials for any writing, reading or speaking assingments.

  • We strongly recommend students read our 1:1 Writing Student Guidelines before going ahead with a booking.
  • To get the most out of your tutorial, upload a draft or plan of your work (up to 2000 words) at least a day (24 hours) before your appointment.

Statistics tutorials

In the statistics tutorials you can get advice on:

  • an array of topics (e.g. linear regression and correlation, sampling, and probability),
  • software and statistical data analysis environments (e.g. R, Python, SPSS, or Excel),
  • the effectiveness of your methods.

The statistics tutor can act as a 'sounding board' for your quantitative research ideas. For more details of what we can and cannot support you with, please read the Maths, Stats and Numeracy Student Guidelines.

Statistics tutorials are 45 minutes.

Maths & Numeracy tutorials

During the maths and numeracy tutorials, we will help you develop your maths and/or numeracy skills for your course or numeracy tests for job applications.

For more details of what we can and cannot support you with, please read the Maths, Stats and Numeracy Student Guidelines .
