Careers in Sustainability Week

There are a growing number of job opportunities that have a sustainability focus and students from all academic disciplines can enter this sector. During our week of events from the 10-14 March 2025, students heard from alumni and employers about some of the exciting roles on offer and learnt more about how to tailor their skills and experience to succeed.

Introduction to Careers in Ecology with Tetra Tech

Careers in Sustainable Food - with Sustain

Sustain is a powerful alliance of organisations and communities working together for a better system of food, farming and fishing, and cultivating the movement for change.

Together, we advocate food and agriculture policies and practices that enhance the health and welfare of people and animals, improve the working and living environment, enrich society and culture, and promote equity.

Working with our members and supporters, we campaign for a healthy and sustainable food system, which is publicly accountable and socially and environmentally responsible. Our campaigns and projects fall into the following seven areas of work:

Cost of living crisis, sustainable farming and fishing, climate and nature emergency, Brexit and trade, good food economy, good food for all and local action.

Careers in Carbon, Climate and Energy Alumni Panel

Mark Berry, Head of Sustainability at Royal Holloway, hosted an alumni panel to explore careers and opportunities in climate policy, carbon management, energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The energy sector is making its global transition away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources (eg, solar, wind, hydropower, ocean, geothermal and biomass). Opportunities in the energy and environmental sectors are expanding as the transition to a sustainable, circular, low-carbon economy is accelerating across the world.
